A Step Above The Rest

Have you ever been in a store where they have a ladder accessible for reaching objects up high? Like an old library ladder, attached on a track so you can hop on the ladder and scurry up to the top, or push it with little oomph to see how quickly it gets to the end?

I never do these things. And I never get in trouble with store clerks for playing with the ladders.

But a ladder can serve as more than a functional piece. Also, it’s functionality can be reinvented.

Boom Boom Pow

You know, I do a lot of searching for ideas, products and businesses to feature on Salvaged Grace. I’m oftentimes surprised by the things that I’m drawn to.

Like this oil lamp made from a grenade by Piet Houtenbos.

I think these guys are just adorable. And I love that the designer took something with a normally negative connotation and  gave it a positive use. I vote that we turn all grenades into beautiful lamps!

Ski Style

Have you been watching the Winter Olympics over the past few weeks? It is unpatriotic to say I’ve been watching Lost instead?

However, via Twitter, I learned about the Vonn vs. Mancuso ski team rivalry. Something about Mancuso being waved off the course and Vonn breaking a thumb. And about who gets more love from the press… Egads.

In honor of the Mean Girls situation on the Olympic Skiing Team, here’s a roundup of repurposed ski furniture.
