There was an unusually shaped gift under my tree this year. It was wrapped as if it were a wreath, but when unwrapped it was infinitely cooler. My mom gave me the frame of an old porthole window! It’s small, still opens, but doesn’t have the glass anymore. I’m planning to make it a mirror and hang it on the gray wall in our living room (Pictures and a post to follow, for sure!)
I logged onto to Etsy, curious see if anyone else had thought to make a mirror out of an old porthole and sure enough there was one in a shop called Vintage Zen. Within the San Diego based owner’s shop, I found a few more little treasures.

My porthole is brass and has a different feel, but this adorable porthole mirror screams “kid’s room!”

Have you ever heard of a kaffee klatch? For the record, it’s a casual gathering for coffee & conversation, or gossip!

Two super cool statues. The ram is especially awesome – it oozes strength!

This is a “Ceramic tile with a sand painting that is mounted on a wood frame & surrounded by a woven string art geometric design.” The shop owner thinks it’s Navajo. I think it’s amazing.

Resisting the urge to make this BC’s sick bell.

I’m always trying to think of ways to add some height to food displays at my parties. This trivet and stand would be perfecto!

Oh, absolutely giddy to find yet another lovely lady nutcracker! Seriously, I think I need to start a collection.

where’s the pic of your porthole??
also….you will get a kick out of this: for Halloween this year I’m going as a Nutcracker! And my boy toy will be the Planters Peanut Man. He wants to tell everyone: “She cracks me up”. boys.
LOVE! Please be a sexy nutcracker. What am I talking about – you’re already a sexy nutcracker.
Porthole to come.. am going to wait until I get the mirror for it and hang it on the wall.
