The final stop on my little day trip around Park Slope was to Film Biz Recycling. A friend from work had recommended that I check it out and then a week or so later it appeared in the Best of New York list. I could delay no longer…

The concept of Film Biz is genius. The film and entertainment business throws away a ton of set design pieces and props. Film Biz is a recycling center for things found in the movies (on TV, or on the stage) so us common folk can have our own camera worthy sets at home.

Blurry picture alert – Sorry about that!
I had just seen the old accounting ledgers looking very smart in a frame at FIND a few hours before. So I was excited to discover these “old” parchment paper documents. All I’d need is the frame and I’d be set.

There was a small haven for those ancient technology enthusiasts. And there was a great selection of lamps.

I found a fabulous, giant, in great condition disco ball that I couldn’t believe my luck in finding. (It would sit in a corner of my living room – trust me, it’d be awesome.) When I went back to give it one last look before trying to figure out how I’d get it home, I realized that it was for rental only – grrr!
Though I was looking for practical pieces… there were a ton of wacky, kooky items that could be really fun. I can only imagine BC’s face if I were to have brought home an electric chair. Even with pillows, could an electric chair ever be a comfy perch?

So what did I take home? A white, trophy shaped pottery vase – which has become the centerpiece of my Spring table.

And may I say… I’m becoming increasingly fond of keeping live flowers in my apartment. The table is set for brunch with my cousin and her boyfriend last weekend. Cinnamon pecan muffins, blueberry oat pancakes, make your own omelets, bacon, fresh fruit and fresh orange juice. Having people over for brunch is my new favorite weekend activity.

Hope you have a super happy beautiful spring weekend!
