Hi, I’m Erin.
During the day, I’m an Account Supervisor at a New York ad agency. I spend my nights and weekends entranced in all things design. I’m originally from North Carolina, though Brooklyn seems to be a better fit. I live on the third floor of a limestone walk-up near Prospect Park with my boyfriend BC.
I come from a long line of thrifters. My great grandmother Haines and grandmother, Nana, were known to come home with some outrageous flea market finds and then create beautiful pieces. I remember visiting flea markets and antique with my mom throughout my childhood. There’s a thrill in breathing new life into old things. I’ve made a chalkboard out of a window I found on the street. My favorite lamp started as an antique fire extinguisher. By decorating with repurposed, salvaged or vintage pieces, I get to preserve a small bit of the past.
Salvaged Grace is a place to celebrate this idea and strives to be a source for ways to decorate your home using salvaged materials and unique, vintage pieces. It’s not about being eco-friendly, but how memories can be held in a chair, a piece of fabric, even a kitchen utensil. I hope that by reading, you’ll be inspired to Repurpose. Reclaim. Redecorate.

Erin, it’s your old roomie! This is so cool that you’re doing a blog! You should post some of the stuff you did with the living room (unless you did and I just didn’t see it.) Anyways, guess what: Abe and I are in the process of buying a house! I’m really hoping to be able to make it unique looking (as in, not everything from Ikea) so I will definitely be checking out this blog. I’m not so much an antiques person, but would love any suggestions of types of places to find good quality items, either decor or even furniture, at a good price that just need a new home. (And as of now, we have a pink tiled bathroom that will be staying as is.)

Like your collection of photos. I check in often. I grew up with old things and cannot seem to stay away from them. Under most circumstances there is already something that exists that will do just fine, so why buy new? It may not be art, but who needs a new hammer?
Live in Paris now, but NC (Chapel Hill) is my adopted home, (when I am not in Upstate NY at my family’s place on the St. Lawrence).

Hey Erin! It’s Pam Carpenter, an old dance buddy from A Dancers Place!! I love your blog. When I have time, which is never with two little ones, I love to go to the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte and check out all the stuff they have! Some great, some scary, but all really neat!
